Tuesday Truck Thoughts | You Are Not Alone!
Jan 14, 2025Hey everyone! Today’s Tuesday Truck Thought comes to you, ironically, not from my truck. I was out early this morning, and it was just too dark to record from the cab of my truck. So here I am, sharing from my office studio instead. Despite the change in location, my heart’s still in the same place—thinking deeply about life, leadership, and how we navigate the ups and downs together.
Lately, I’ve been reflecting on how so many leaders feel alone. Maybe it’s the weight of their struggles, the pressures of leadership, or even the solitude of pursuing their dreams and ambitions. It’s been on my heart as I’ve been working through a few relaunches in my own life—revisiting the book I wrote years ago, Gifted, while also making progress on a new book for our church. These projects have rekindled a passion in me for encouraging others, particularly pastors, leaders, and people in ministry.
If you’ve ever been in ministry, you know the unique challenges that come with it. So often, leaders feel isolated, believing their struggles are different from everyone else’s because of their specific church, community, or circumstances. Over the years, as I’ve trained church planters and walked alongside other pastors, I’ve seen this far too often. And it’s heartbreaking.
That’s why I’m leaning into this next season of life with a renewed purpose: to walk alongside people and remind them they are not alone. Just this morning, I texted a friend who’s going through a tough time, simply saying, “You are not alone.” It’s such a simple phrase, but I’ve seen the power it holds. Knowing someone is there, walking with you, changes everything. It breaks the isolation and opens the door for hope.
But this isn’t just about struggles. I’m also drawn to those who are chasing big dreams. Sometimes the size of those dreams can feel overwhelming, and it’s easy to get lost in the enormity of what you’re trying to achieve. I want to be there for those people, cheering them on when they’re climbing the mountain and when they’re stuck in the valley. Because let’s face it—life is full of both.
As I look ahead, I see myself as more of a cheerleader. Of course, I’m still a leader and a guide, especially when it comes to helping people on their spiritual journeys. But more than anything, I just want to champion others. Whether you’re facing challenges or pursuing dreams, I want to be the voice that says, “You’ve got this!” and, “You are not alone.”
So here’s my question for you today: What does it mean to you when someone tells you, “You are not alone”? How has that phrase impacted you in your life, whether it came during a tough season or a moment of ambition? I’d love to hear your thoughts and experiences. Feel free to share them with me.
Thanks for letting me share my heart with you today. Have a great Tuesday, and I’ll see you next week—hopefully back in the truck!
